Arne Jacobsen’s Gem
Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Bellevue Teatret, completed in 1936, lies elegantly on Strandvejen, Klampenborg, at the S.E. corner of Dyrehaven. The theatre looks out across the sandy beach onto the Øresund, with its jetties and look-out posts. Everything about the theatre was designed by Jacobsen, including the gorgeous Bellevista condominium adjoining the theatre to the south.
We provide guided tours (about 45 minutes) and shorter visits (about 25 minutes).
To enjoy a tour, you can stop off on your way to Kronborg and Louisiana, and further enhance your experience by trying our coffee and cake or a Danish open sandwich in the theatre bar.
Free parking at the theatre, also for coaches.
There are two ways of visiting Bellevue Teatret outside opening hours.
We tell you the entire story of the theatre: you’ll be shown around its functionalist architecture, and as Bellevue Teatret is a working theatre you’ll get access to wherever we can admit you that day. The roof can slide open and we’ll open it for you if the sky is blue outside! You will also see how Arne Jacobsen brought his plan for the environs of the theatre to life.
Your guide knows the story of the celebrated designer, the iconic theatre and the beautiful area inside out.
Languages: Danish or English.
The tour lasts about 45 minutes on weekdays between 09.00 and 16.00.
