Since 1979, when Jes Kølpin reopened the Bellevue Theatre as a professional venue, the theatre has staged more than 150 shows, with an average annual audience of around 125,000 paying guests. Productions (primarily in Danish) take place throughout the year.
Since 2003, Bellevue Theatre has broadened its international appeal by hosting and producing the now famous Summer Ballet, under the artistic direction of Alexander Kølpin.
Bellevue Theatre’s repertoire takes a broad approach, and loyal audiences have become accustomed to productions featuring performances by new and talented artists, interspersed with shows featuring exciting collaborations between different art forms. Over the past years, shows have been almost exclusively produced in-house.
